China Coast Guard Asserts Control Over Disputed Reef in South China Sea

China says its coast guard has extended “sovereign jurisdiction” over the disputed Sandy Cay reef in the South China Sea. State media published a photo of coast guard personnel holding a Chinese flag above the reef.
